Copying Myself and winner

Have you ever made a card for a specific occasion then loved it so much that you didn't want to mail it? Last week I made this sympathy card and didn't take a photo of if before I mailed it. I regretted it so much that I made myself another almost exact copy. To be fair, I had used a couple of challenges for inspiration and was bummed that I didn't get to enter. I also just thought it was so pretty!

The main inspiration for this card was the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

I just loved the multicolor watercolor look of the dress pattern. I used a Tattered Angels stamp and applied a variety of Clearsnap chalk inks to it to create the variegated effect. After that was dry, I stamped again with embossing ink and clear embossed it. Finally I fussy cut it and added it to my card with foam tape for some dimension.

This is also for the simon says and creative inspirations anything goes challenges, and the creative card crew ribbon challenge.

also, the winner for the Joy's life stamps giveaway is...

Happy Day CAS card

When I started this card, this isn't what I had in mind. I had planned a frame around the sentiment and maybe some rays coming out from it. After I stamped the sentiment on the clean white cardstock, I just loved the way it looked though!
I will definitely be using this stamp more. Maybe I will even try out my original idea, once I get this CAS bug out of my system.

This is from the NEW Tag You're It ONE stamp set.

Clean and Simple stamped I love you card

Joy asked us to make something about Love this week, and I just knew that I had to use her new heart stamps. I love the designs on them and wanted to showcase them.

I lined up the hearts from the Joyful Hearts set, on the acrylic block and stamped them all at the same time to make sure that I got a good straight placement. I used clearsnap dye ink in a deep purple color to create a nice bright color. Then I went back and stamped the sentiment from the Everyday Occasions set. A few My Mind's Eye jewels was all I needed to complete this card!

Joy's Life Teacher Gifts Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Welcome to the Joy's Life Design Team's Teacher gifts blog hop! You should have arrived here from Lori's blog. If not, you might want to start at the beginning over on Joy's blog. There is a lot of inspiration and lots of prizes to be had!

When I saw this stamp set, I couldn't wait to make something using the espresso set stamp and sentiment. I LOVE coffee!

So, I decided to make a gift card holder suitable for a starbucks gift card. What teacher wouldn't love that?!

Isn't that cute?! And it's SO simple! I just put some Jillibean soup paper in the back of the gift card holder. It's the perfect green to go with anything Starbucks. Then I tied some webster's pages ribbon around it and finished it with a cute tag.
I made the tag with a spellbinders nestabilities die and of course the adorable joy's life stamp from the Tag You're It ONE set. I finished it off by coloring the image in to match. Now all it needs is the gift card!

you are here--------->Megan: http://thoughtsoftraveling.blogspot.com

Hydrangea Hippo Cards from Island Cruise kit

I told you I would be back with some cards that I created from the Island Cruise kit. Last time, I showed you three layouts that I made with this kit. In addition to those layouts, I made these three cards, and I still have enough product left that I could probably make 3 more layouts and 3 more cards! This kit is just so packed!

For this first card I used the sticker strips as a mask for the background. Head over to the Hydrangea Hippo blog for details on how I created this card.

For this card, I just couldn't resist using almost all of these awesome square buttons to make a BIG impact! I LOVE these buttons and I was hoarding them until I realized that I had only used one and I was running out of time! I think they make a great statement here.

This is probably my favorite card of the bunch though. I LOVE these little punched coral pieces that came in the kit. I loved them and their color so much that I dug into my stash and pulled out a piece of matching ribbon (also from Hydrangea Hippo) to add to this card. I feel like that little pop of blue in the corner really makes this card stand out. And all the dimension doesnt hurt either!

Hydrangea Hippo cruise kit projects

Wow, things have been so busy that I guess I forgot to share this with you! My first blog post as part of the design team is up at Hydrangea Hippo. I got to work with the Island Cruise kit, and it definitely had be dreaming of tropical breezes.

Here are a couple of the pages that I created.

For more details on these pages and a look at another page I created with this kit, check out my post on the Hydrangea Hippo blog.

I will be back soon with some cards! This kit was just so packed with stuff that I ran out of time before I ran out of supplies!

Ribbon Camera Strap cover

I created this camera strap cover for the May Arts Ribbon Challenge. Head over there and vote for your favorite creation for a chance to win. and *wink *wink hopefully your favorite is my camera strap cover ;)

I came up with this idea because I have been wanting a fun new camera strap cover and when I saw the ribbons for the challenge this month, I knew it would be perfect. When I got them, I set about to making a practice camera strap cover. The weaving went fine, but I am not really a seamstress, and I messed up the cover itself. So I googled for some help with a camera strap cover pattern, and lo and behold, someone else already had the same idea. So I used her tutorial for the rest of the cover. Check it out here.

Oh, and I am also grateful for her idea for a belt, because I used my failed first attempt and made it into a fun belt for my daughter. She loves it!

Christmas themed tube set from altered box with cricut and joy's life stamps

This week Joy asked us to work with these tubes! I had my Christmas supplies out and spread all over my work room because the magazines all have their holiday calls out and I was working on stuff for that. So, I was inspired to make my tubes Christmasy.

BUT I used a Halloween Stamp set stamp! Isn't that cool?! I love it when I can make my supplies do double duty!

Speaking of supplies doing double duty, the box that I altered here is from some webster's pages pins packaging. I often save plastic boxes like this one to alter. You could make a tube holder like this out of cardstock, but I like the plastic one because it is more sturdy, especially once the tubes are filled with candy.

To make the holes for the tubes, I just used a punch in the same size as the tubes. Or as close as I had really, mine was scalloped and just a hair too small, but I managed to shove them in there anyway.
The label die cut is from the Lacy Labels Cricut cartridge. I covered up the bird that was at the bottom of the leaf circle, with some holly leaves that I sketched in pencil and then cut free-handed.
I used Staz-On ink, but only inked it lightly so that it worked with the distressed My Mind's Eye papers. The bling is also My Mind's Eye. I used a little bit of Clearsnap ink on the edges of the box so that the white cut edges of the paper didn't show.
The stickers on the accordion flowers are from SRM stickers.

Mother's Day gift set with My Little Shoebox

Yesterday I shared this project on the Scrapstreet Magazine blog. Check that post out for a ton of details about how I created this gift set.

I just wanted to share it with you here also. And can you believe how fast this year is going? It's going to me Mother's Day before we know it!

Stamped Cricut You're a Hoot Card with Campin Critters cartridge

When I first got the Wild Life Puns stamp set, I knew it was going to be a favorite. So I ran right out and bought the Cricut Campin' Critters Cartridge to go with it. Ok, I didn't really run out, I ordered it from Amazon, but still.

So, I used it on this card, and had a blast cutting and layering this little guy! I used mostly My Mind's Eye papers, with a little Webster's Pages thrown in.

I messed up and glued the twill down before I stamped. But I left it the way it is because I think it goes with the rugged outdoorsy feel.

Happy Belated Easter - and Joy's Life stamped card

Happy Easter! We had a great weekend. We had two wonderful Seders - on Friday and Saturday nights. Then we had an Easter egg hunt and Easter dinner on Sunday. We dyed our eggs last weekend, and that was pretty great too! Saturday during the day we got out and did some yard work, and Ellie was a HUGE help! She is one strong girl! She helped me weed, and move the wheelbarrow and water the plants that I transferred. She even dragged her old plastic picnic table and see-saw out to the curb for someone to take. I was so impressed with her helpfulness that I gave he a special treat - a webkinz toy that I had saved away for a special occasion.

Anyway, hope you all had a great Easter and Passover!

Joy asked us to pick our favorite creations using Joy's Life stamps, and I had to go with this Easter card. Not only is it timely, but I just love the technique that I used on the background - staggering the stamps and emphasizing one of them. Easter is generally my least favorite holiday to scrap because I don't care for pastels and anything that's traditional Easter. I think that's why I love this card so much. It surprises me that I actually LIKE an Easter card that I made!

Here is a closeup on the sentiment stamp. I used the 'happy' from the everyday occasions set, and the 'Easter' from the holiday occasions set. There is a 'happy' in the holiday occasions set too, but it was the same font as the 'Easter' and I liked the way the different fonts looked together.

Thanks for taking another peek at my favorite joy's life card!

Clean and simple birthday card

This week Joy asked us to create sping-y cards. I thought fresh and went with a clean and simple card that is fresh and clean. I used bright aqua cardstock and the Chic and Scary cricut cartridge.
I cut three of the crows. Each one was sitting on a scary looking branch, but I trimmed that off by hand and then lined them up on the twine.

Combined with this fun punny sentiment, it makes a great birthday card, don't you think?
This stamp is from the Wildlife Puns Set.
