I am going to share a secret with you all today. ACOT is going to be THE PLACE TO BE this weekend to celebrate National Scrapbook Day! It all starts on Friday, April 30th at 2:00 PM EST and continues through Sunday, May 2 to at least 8:00 PM EST. We have so many awesome things going on the entire weekend! Yes, the entire weekend! The crop will continue around the clock for a full 52 hours! Here are some of the highlights:
  • Fabulous classes being taught by our amazing Creative Team along with classes by Prima and IOD!
  • Chats with My Minds Eye and ScrapHD!
  • Fun games, challenges and fast scraps are scheduled throughout the weekend, with tons of chances to win ACOT points, gift certificates and prize packs!
  • Amazing giveaways, with our grand prize being a Cricut Gypsy!
  • And, $1,000 worth of prizes will be given away from some of the top scrapbooking manufacturers!
To check out all the details and to sign up for your chance to win you need to stop by HERE!

I will be teaching a class on Sunday at noon that will show you how to make 4 cards (+2 optional bonus cards) for Mother's Day or any other holiday, using seed paper so that the recipient can plant part of the card! I've even included a printable poem for the inside of your cards so that they look finished and the recipient will know just how to use them.

Thursday Thought

ok, here I go again with thinking. It always gets me in trouble.

the thought of the day is political correctness and sexual harassment.

Let me first say that I believe that women are equal to men and should be given every opportunity that men are given. I believe that women can do just about anything that men can do. I believe that women have come a long way with regards to lessening the discrepancy between opportunities, pay and respect given them in comparison to men. Furthermore, I have been the victim of sexual harassment - not innuendo or even overt come-ons but rather unwelcome and somewhat persistent physical contact from a person who was supposed to be evaluating my product. (haha) Not my supervisor, but definitely someone I wanted to impress. I probably should have lodged a formal complaint, but instead I just asked a male team member to not leave me alone with the other guy, and to sit between us. So, yeah it's still out there.

Nevertheless, I think that to some extent, sensitivity training and a constant awareness of the issue, causes a different and more subtle culture of separation to manifest. Now, men have to constantly be on guard about what they say, lest it be perceived as sexual harassment or at the very least, in poor taste. I guess it totally depends on the situation, but for me, working with mostly men, I sometimes feel like I am excluded or relegated to the fringes of social interaction because it is just easier that way. Nothing to worry about for them if I am just not present in the first place. I guess sometimes I want to be 'just one of the guys' but realistically, that is never going to happen.

No conclusion, just something to ponder.

30 day shred

ok, so I know I say this all the time, but I think this might be the one!

I was pretty depressed there for a while about trying to lose weight because it seems like I always fail no matter what I try. I need something to excite me and give me a plan and a goal. Well, I found it.

We just got the 30 Day Shred from netflix and I really liked it! yeah it was hard but I love it that it is less than a half hour, but really intense. And i also love it that it is broken down into circuits so I can keep saying to myself - ok just another 30 seconds then on to something else. So, the plan is 10 days on level 1, 10 days on level 2 and 10 days on level 3.

If I keep going I might have to buy the dvd instead of keep it from netflix for a month, but Im going to try it for a week first.

the beauty of ups trucks

my thought for the day is about ups trucks.

picture a line of ups trucks winding down the circular on-ramp to the highway in the morning on their way to start deliveries.

There is a major UPS distribution facility somewhere near the turnpike interchange that I use to get to work each morning. I see the string of ups trucks somewhat regularly and it makes me happy.

how weird is that? I picture myself in a music montage of a ups commercial or of a movie where one of the characters is a truck driver. I think about how modern our world is and how well things work (when they are working) and how it is pretty much a wonder that the packages can go anywhere in a day. For that matter, how much of a wonder it is that there are hundreds of cars exiting (like me) and entering and just continuing on the highway, and how they pretty much all just move on their merry way not thinking about the other drivers much and yet not hitting each other. (if we are lucky that is) And then I think about the packages, ah the packages. What wonderful surprises are in those trucks?!

Yep, I admit it, Im strange.
