Wednesday thoughts

yep, I missed Tuesday so today you get thoughts.

orange juice + milk = orange milkshake?

hmm, sounds gross to me, but its what ellie wanted after her dr appt this morning - just to be checked up since she has a cold, before going away for spring break

what else, hmmm - its a reminiscing day, thinking about old friends, trying to find em online, failing miserably. (again)
Ellie did a pretty good job last night with the 4 questions. At the first seder she was really shy but it was probably because she had a fever. Last night it was much more crowded than the first night and yet she stood up and bravely sang all she knows (the first 2) and tried to get the others.

nothing, profound today really, just wow - it is wednesday and it feels like thursday? friday maybe but there isnt the joy of friday. I guess it has just been a long long long week. and it's only Wed!

I said goodbye to Ellie this morning and wont see her for the next 8 days! eek! last year this didnt bother my as much, dont know why it does so much now. you'd think it would be less because she is older and weve been there done that.

freezing! my hands are like numb. mmm coffee. I dont even really want to drink it, just have it warm my hands.

anyhoo - that's it, sorry its rather boring, but hey there is a photo - that makes everything better right?

thanks a bunch

color scheme from spcc. digi stamp from lily boos boutique

thank you (pear)

sketch from priscillastyles mmsc46. subject inspiration from cupcake craft - to use food or drink. also for cute card thursday to have dimension - there are pop dots under the bottom layer, and the third layer (where the ribbon is) and the pear comes out through the frame.

thanks so much

sketch from papertake weekly, but I had to move the sentiment to the side because my image was too tall to make the sentiment fit under it.

I used the color scheme from the color throwdown challenge.

stamp is from digi doodling.

fairy thank you card

for this card, I used the sketch from the ics blog for this week, but I turned it on it's side because my image (from the country crafter blog) was vertical. I used the color scheme from rosie Ds - green yellow and white. and I added glitter to her wings as per the stampin royalty challenge.

This is my first attempt at masking a stamp. The sentiment is all on one line, so I had to mask off the parts of it. Of course, it looked terrible so I then had to fill it in with a pen where my stamping was lacking.

Tuesday Thoughts

well, no scrapbook stuff this week because we worked out in the yard on Saturday then I had a migraine on Sun and Mon.

So, still feeling like crap, the main thought for the day today is: Migraines STINK!
and additionally, I should never have more than 2 glasses of wine because it triggers the migraine from hell.

moving on - the real 'meat' thought of the day is politics. Nope, don't worry Im not going to advocate for any one thing or another. Rather, I had an interesting thought while reading a news story about the whole healthcare thing. I was thinking to myself, "oh man why won't these stupid people LISTEN. Why won't they just agree with me? Why do they have to try and mess everything up? Why do they just live in their own little world and only listen to all the other crazy people? "

and then I closed the article because I just get so worked up about political stuff that usually, I would rather just not read it, just ignore it. Sometimes when Im feeling confrontational, I will go somewhere and make a stink, but usually I prefer to only engage in conversation with people who feel the same way as I do.

Wait a minute, hold up, Im just like they are! I'm sure they think that I am crazy and not listening and getting erroneous information from all the crazy people on my side of the divide.

soooo...... the thought of the day:

`But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'

Thoughts of the Day

1. I downloaded an audio book from the library, but the file format is so bizarre that I can't get it to play on my mp3 player OR my iphone - despite the fact that it is supposed to play on an iPod. So, the solution? plug my laptop into the audio in cord in my car and pretend that it is a really big mp3 player. Is this cool, or ridiculous? One of my co-workers likened it to just taking a phonograph with me, but I think its pretty neat, it takes one step out of the process after all, I dont have to figure out how to get it from my computer to my mp3 player. On the other hand, Im not positive that it will work, but it should. We'll see on my drive home tonight.

2. The topic: Gabourey Sidibe, the very large actress from the movie Precious, who was nominated for an Oscar. On the radio this morning I heard that she has been propositioned by a weight loss company to try their product for a year and then be their spokesperson (if it works). In another article last week I read a discussion about how her weight will almost definitely adversely affect her role options and future career despite the fact that pretty much everyone agrees that she is tremendously talented. While I was digesting these news stories I thought, "wow that must really hurt her. I mean surely she knows that she is hugely obese but still, to have people discussing it like that - ouch. But on the other hand, maybe it will be a motivator to her to be more healthy, it isnt like they are bashing her or anything." THEN this morning the radio hosts played a game for Black Eyed Peas tickets called 'Which weighs more Precious or..." they compared her to THREE Lindsay Lohans (Gabby weighs more) and two Kirstie Alley's at her highest weight (Gabby weighed less). I was just appalled.

3. Why am I posting random thoughts instead of scrapbook pages. Well, I used to only post scrapbook pages because I figured that is all my followers want to see. But then I began to feel kind of blah about my blog. Lately Ive just been posting my newest creation with links to challenges and moving on. Then I realized that some of the blogs I follow, I chose because not only do they have awesome scrappy works, but they have some other 'something' that I like to read sometimes. So, Im trying something new. Let me know if you hate it. But it wont always be as, um, deep as this. This just happens to be what was on my mind today.

My ACOT reveal - Hippity Hoppity

oh I soooo couldnt wait to share this! My reveal of WRMK Hippity Hoppity line is up at ACOT, see the article with all my creations HERE. But I just have to show you this, I am so proud! I took an awful easter basket and altered it into this gorgeous (if I do say so myself) item.

Here is the original

and here are some close ups of the final product

ETA some notes on how I created it. First I removed all the fringy ribbon. Turned out that that ribbon was mostly just woven in and not glued. As I unraveled it however, the top (now white) bands of the basket fell off, but that turned out to my advantage. After all the fringe was removed, I lightly sprayet the whole thing with blue glimmer mist, just to tone down the brightness of the colors in case any of it showed through when I was done. Then I cut strips of paper in the same width as the woven slats of the basket, and just wove them over top of the existing slats, buy sort of pushing the slat I was working on out and the others back to create more space. I also used tweezers in some hard to reach spots. I did the vertical slats first, using one strip to go up the outside and down the inside, leaving the ends just kind of hanging out in the middle and bottom of the basket. When I was all done with the weaving, I glued circles of cardstock to cover the ends of the papers, then mod podged the whole thing twice. Then I added the white cardstock to the top rim slats, and hot glued them back on. But since I didnt do such a gorgeous job with the hot glue, I used rick rack to cover the part where you could see the hot glue. the leaves I just cut freehand, and the flowers I created using a tutorial on the fancy pants blog, but I had to glue two sheets of paper together with modpodge before cutting my spirals since the paper in the collection pack was not double sided.

so yeah, it was pretty time consuming but I could do most of the weaving while watching TV. I think you could probably do this with pretty much any basket but the larger the slats the easier it would be.
