Happy Birthday Eliana!

today is a great day! I can't believe my baby is THREE!!
I got up early and got donuts for breakfast for Eliana, and you should have seen the look on her face when she saw it. She said, "oooh, a donut for my BIRTHDAY" then she sat down and we chatted and she told me she is three now and her name isnt ellie anymore it is Eliana now. lol!
so I got to work early so that I can get home early and do presents and maybe cake. I say maybe because I havent actually obtained a cake yet, and we are doing cake tomorrow so I dont know if I even want to.

oh and one more thing. Last night the Phillies won the world series and while I am already sick of hearing about it and am not at all a sports fan, I just have to share that as I was getting ready for bed I could hear the people in my town honking and yelling and doing fireworks. I have to admit that that was kinda cool.

LSS DT 4 Me!!!

I am so excited! I finally found a 'local' scrapbook store AND got on the Design Team!
Ok, I havent actually been to the store and it isnt exactly convenient to my house, but still, I am super excited! It is only about 20mins from my office - which means it is about an hour and 15mins from my house.
I am setting up a time to go see the store and meet the DT lead. I am so excited! Maybe I will get to start doing classes or going to crops or meeting people, or all three! woohoo!

For any of you local people, it is Creative Inkling in Peddler's Village, Lahaska, PA.

warning: political

ok, I am definitely with everyone who says that they are totally sick of this election. I am SOOOOOO over it! But I read this on someone else's blog and just had to share it, I think that people on both sides can probably appreciate this. And if you are undecided, then I apologize in advance, because I really can see the 'how do you pick the lesser of two evils' argument. and without further ado, the blatantly stolen quote of a quote:
------------------------------------------

Wait, I did love this great quote about undecided votors

"I look at these people and can't quite believe that they exist. Are they professional actors? I wonder. Or are they simply laymen who want a lot of attention? To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
- Author David Sedaris, on undecided voters

And I guess it's up to you to decide who the platter of shit is, but in my head the platter is frozen and the chicken is dark meat. And I'm going with the dark meat.

snow in Oct!

it is snowing here! apperently it is an extremely isolated system because it isnt even registering on the Philadelphia weather forecasts, but I have proof. This is what it looks like outside my office right now! note the red and yellow trees! we havent even had to rake leaves yet and it is snowing!

I made this page using the Webster's Pages papers and journaling cards that I got from the Scrapwords store. I was inspired by the Method Playground blog challenge #30 presented by Wendy Rago. She challenged us to use cardboard, chipboard, patterned paper and ribbon. I also made this page with the Websters pages blog challenge in mind - to use cutting and make a page about a favorite object.

my retreat

I went on a scrapbooking retreat this weekend. It was AWESOME! There were 9 women in a house specifically designed for scrapping. We each got a 6ft long table, a really comfy chair, a really comfy bed, use of a kitchen and snack bar, there were two awesome big screen tv{readmore}'s (one is the crop room and one in the great room) and a little store with the essentials and some other goodies in case of emergency. Oh and some other punches a cricut and stamps. So fun! I learned some new things, met some new people and had a LOT of scrapping time! Friday I got there at 2pm, but I had a bit of a migraine. Not terrible, but not great and I ended up in bed at 8pm. But Sat I scrapped until midnight! Can't remember the last time I was up that late!

(yesterday I was home with Ellie because she is sick) So, now I am back at work, had my flu shot (yuk) and back to the norm.

Here is one of the things that I worked on - this lovely Jenni Bowlin mini album from scrapwords! I love the shape of this and there are SOOOO many pages! So many in fact that I ran out of photos and had a few pages left over. The good news about that is that the pages make great journaling spots! I had all of these pictures of ellie making different faces, and I thought they would make really cute book to keep at my office. One day she wanted to pose for me, so I told her to smile, then show me a sad face, then a mad face, etc. I have no idea what the 'I bit a lemon' face is supposed to be, surprised maybe?

I just loved these photos and the pages of the book so I decided to keep it simple. I think I need to add something though but I cant decide what. (let me know if you have any ideas)

Anyway, I used Sassafrass Lass paper and borders, and stickers, an urban lily rubon, some Love Elsie ribbon, fancy pants felt, Sassafrass Lass rub-ons (that Les STILL doesnt have in the store), alpha stamps from the target dollar spot, stazon ink, misc brad, foam dots under the corners, some heidi grace chipboard that I had lying around, misc punches - including the photo corners punch that I just HAVE to HAVE! And I used some KI Memories Bloom for the yellow paper because I wanted to use THIS Sassafrass lass paper, but I had run out, so I used the closest thing I could find.

and if I do say so myself, dont you just love the scalloped border behind that photo? the other side of that sass lass paper has scalloped journaling spots, I had cut one out and it was laying with the blue checked side up and I thought - how cute! so I used the scallops on another part as a template and cut it down to the correct size, then traced it again for the other page that I used one on.

Scrapwords Star Starting!

Just a reminder that the Scrapwords Star contest is starting. Check it out!

What else do I have to share. Hmmmm, well I thought about posting a Obama campaign ad that I saw on someones blog today, but I will spare you and just say that I watched the debate last night and got tired and bored by the end of the first hour, but it just solidified my choice. I thought that McCain did a lot of childish finger pointing and a lot of standard politician question dodging. And I still want someone to tell me what he was writing when he first walked out. I just started cracking up because it looked like he had a cheat sheet back stage that he was trying to remember and wanted to write it down asap before he forgot.

Ok, off my platform now.

Onto scrapping - hmmm, what have I not showed you yet?
How about some things from my Scrapbook Dreamer reveal.
The letters in this first one didnt come from Dreamer, they are making memories and I was really kinda peeved when I found out that I was missing one. (after I took the photo obviously) those letters were AWFUL!!

oh and on a totally random aside - how is it that Seth is the one back in school and I am the one having nightmares about not getting my homework done on time? what's up with that?

some thoughts today

First: This morning on my way to work, a motorcade followed me down the road - multiple police cars with flashing lights and multiple SUVs with dark tinted windows - some with flashing lights and some not. (I was flipping out at first wondering what I had done and if I should pull over, but they werent in any hurry)

I had no idea who it was but figured it had to be one of the candidates. Now my coworkers who went out to lunch have been saying how bad the traffic is, so I googled it. Its Joe Biden in town for his MILs funeral

Second: what do you think about Disney re-releases, and this Sleeping Beauty one in particular? I am thinking of getting it for Ellie for her birthday, but I worry that it might be too scary. Then the other part of me wonders how much different it is from the one that came out the last time they released it? I mean, great marketing technique on Disney's part.

Third: Ellie is now signed up for Gymnastics class. I am excited because it gives Seth more time to study, AND ellie gets to do something she likes, and I get to feel like I am a 'good mom' who sends her kid to gymnastics class

Finally, some projects from the 2scrappychix Oct project kit featuring moxxie halloween stuff:

Well, Im out

I did not make it to the next round of the Bad Girls Top Designer this time. I can't say that I am all that surprised. I think my layout is pretty but kind of generic. Oh well, better luck next time.

World Card Making Day

Did you know that this Saturday is World Card Making Day?

Well there seems to be a lot going on for it. First, Scrapbook News and Review is having a card crop.

And also Your Memories By Design (YMBD) is having a card crop with lots of fun and prizes too! Stop by both of them if you can, I know I will!

Vampire Romance?

Yep, this is my latest obsession. Ashamed as I am to admit that I have become yet another follower of the Twilight series - I have. I am on the third book (well actually I listen to the books on cd in the car) and I am so obsessed that I am taking 'smoke breaks' at work to spend 5mins in my car listening - lol! The fourth book is waiting for me at the library and I will pick it up tomorrow. I will be scrapping and listening all weekend. (that is my other new favorite thing, listening to my books on cd instead of music while I scrap)

So, yeah, I am going to have to say that the obsession is really vampire romance in general and not just the Twilight saga because I am loving the TV show trueBlood and I am looking to have other books ordered when I finish these. Yep, obsessed.
