Altered treat tin with Joy's Life

This week Joy asked us to use Turquoise, Orange and Yellow to make some fun summery projects. I love this color combination! I decided to use this adorable mini paint can that Joy sent me. I thought it would be perfect to fill with candy for a little gift.

I used the Sweets for the Sweet sentiment from the Halloween Puns collection. I just love using themed products or something other than their original purpose.

The paper is Jillibean Soup. The ink is Clearsnap Stephanie Barnard. The little flowers are Making memories. The ribbon is May Arts. The pin is Webster's Pages and the transparency is Hambly.

Gift Card Tag holder card with Joy's Life

I admit that when Joy asked us to make tags, I got a little nervous. I keep trying them, but so far I don't feel like I'm really good at them. It's very hit or miss for me. I decided to lift a card that I made a couple weeks ago because it had a tag on the inside. This time I made the tag, and card, sized to fit a gift card. (A kohl's coupon card stands in for a gift card here)
This stamp is from the Tag You're It One set. When I read the 'in store' part it reminded me of a sale, so I thought it would be cute to put it with a gift card holder.
I used my current favorite ink, Clearsnap Stephanie Barnard Dye ink in Cornflower. I seem to be able to match this ink color to just about everything! The paper, rhinestones and Die cut are from My Mind's Eye.

Twinery and My Little Shoebox Blog Hop!

+

What a great combination! I was so excited to work with the Twinery for this hop! I adore their twines and use them on almost everything. I admit that I often use just a little bit here and there though, hoarding them. It was fun to have an excuse to break out my twines and really USE them!

I created this double page layout using the My Little Shoebox Keepsake line and a ton of twine! It looks like a lot of work, and I guess it was a little time consuming but I had a great time weaving the twine to create the background on the sides of the page.

I used my crop-a-dile to cut notches at half inch intervals, then I strung the twine between them, securing on the back. Here are some closeups.

Here's the lineup for today:

Bright and Happy Joy's Life Birthday card

This week at Joy's Life we are making Birthday related items. I have lots of family birthdays coming up so I made this Birthday card - one of about 6 I need to make. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out though. I had been wanting to try masking with this stamp to make the circle part colorful, but I was procrastinating it because I was afraid.

I am not going to lie and say this was an easy stamp to mask. The 'wishing you' part is sort of connected to the circle which I wanted to mask out. I stamped on a scrap paper, then carefully cut out the circle. For the black words, I inked the stamp in black and then rubbed as much of the ink as I could off of the circle with a tissue, before fitting the cut-out circle over it. I figured by putting the mask right on the stamp, I would have a better chance of getting perfect placement. The ink that was left on the circle made the scrap stick. Then I positioned the hole in the scrap paper over that stamp and re-stamped in bright pink.

It didn't turn out exactly perfect, but it's close enough. I love how the pink part just pops!
I wanted to play up that bright bubblegum pink, so I paired it with some Hambly transparency in teal and a scrap of pink lace. I cut the floral designs from the pink lace and adhered them with Fabritac. The ink is Stephanie Barnard for Clearsnap dye ink.
The stamp is from Joy's Life Tag You're It ONE stamp set.

Joy's Life Fun in the Sun Blog Hop

Welcome to the next step of the Joy's Life Fun in the Sun Blog hop! This month we are featuring Joy's brand new stamp set! Check it out - isn't it fabulous?!

I got to work with the 'Wishing you blue skies' stamp. I knew right away what I wanted to do. I wanted to make a blue sky of course! I masked off the clouds and misted with some 'blue sky' glimmer mist. Then I thought it would be fun to add a sun, but that didn't work out so well. What can I say? Im just a simple gal. So I remade the card and kept it simple. I stamped the sentiment in black and voila! Done.
Those spots on it that look like dust or dirt, are glitter from another project. I have a love-hate relationship with loose glitter and in this particular instance it went more towards the hate side, because I spilled the WHOLE BOTTLE all over my desk. Even after I cleaned it up, little flecks seem to be getting on everything!

Here's the line up. You should have arrived here from Cyndy's blog and you are heading onto Lori's blog now. If you didn't get here from Cyndy's blog, you might want to head back to the beginning to make sure that you don't miss out on all the fun and prizes along the way!

The Trinity Paper arts 'Sincerely' line is perfect for this romantic photo of my Mother and Father-in-law on their anniversary. I used the Rollograph stamp wheel with grey ink on the Respectful Ledger A to create a subtle written effect on the lined paper. A hint of smooch accent on the stamens of the flowers, that I hand cut from the  Bouquet A, makes them pop. I also used a design adhesive with gold foil to draw the eye in towards the photo and sentiment. I also inked the edges of pretty much everything with one of my trusty Cat Eye ink pads to mimic the distressing on the papers.

Supplies: Clearsnap: Cat Eye ink in black, Smooch ink in Illuminate, Design Adhesives and foil in gold, Jumbo Rollograph and stamp wheel in Wordswords with Ancient Page ink cartridge in Flannel Grey.
Trinity: Sincerely: Noteworthy A, Bouquet A, Dots B, Decor Stickers and Alpha Stickers.

Here's the lineup:
-------> You ARE HERE Megan Aaron

I admit that this sketch scared me a little at first, but I am in love with how this card turned out!
Here is the card I created:
I used My Mind's Eye papers, Jillibean Soup pins, May Arts ribbon, Clearsnap inks and embossing powders and of course this gorgeous new release stamp set! The butterfly and 'with sympathy' comes from the new release stamp set - Breathtaking Butterflies. The poem on the insert is from the Healing Wings stamp set.

I made the insert removable so that is actually the 'inside' of the card.

Here is a close-up of the butterfly stamp.

I stamped the solid butterfly in mustard ink on white cardstock, fussy cut it and inked the edges. Then I stamped the detailed butterfly on vellum in pink and embossed it with opalescent embossing powder before fussy cutting and adhering with foam tape for dimension.

Now you want to head on out to the next step in the hop: Wendy's blog

Joy's Life Happy Father's Day card

When Joy asked us to make Father's Day projects, I went the direct route with a card because I have 4 'fathers' that I make cards for - my father, my father-in-law,  my grandfather and my grandfather-in-law. So I have lots of cards to make. My father-in-law is into golf, so I made this card for him.

I used my cricut to cut out the golf bags and used the negatives mounted on a contrasting color of cardstock with foam tape.
I stamped on a label sticker from Jillibean Soup and a chipboard sticker from My Mind's Eye.

I used stamps from the Everyday Occasions and Holiday Occasions. I used the Cricut Cartridge - Everyday Paper Dolls. The golf bag was one of the accessories. I set the dial to real size and used a 1.75 inch cut. The cardstock is bazzill. The patterned paper and sticker are Jillibean soup. The chipboard is My Mind's eye and the ink is Clearsnap.

Skipping Stones sketch card

I have some great news! I am guest designing for Skipping Stones Designs this month!
Their stamps combine gorgeous images with sweet and sometimes funny sayings and they are all made out of this wonderful crystal clear material that is just fabulous to work with!

For my first project I used sketch #131 and the Healing Wings set. Now, I normally do not like making sympathy cards and thought I would never buy another sympathy stamp since I have one that works just fine. I couldn't resist the gorgeous butterflies in this set though. I thought I would just use them and pass on the sentiments, but this poem was too sweet to pass up.

For the butterfly, I stamped it with Clearsnap top boss embossing ink and clear embossed it. After that I colored in the sections with various shades of smooch ink. The sentiment I stamped in Stephanie Barnard dye ink in cornflower. The papers and die cut rolled flowers are from My Little Shoebox. The ribbons are webster's pages and doodlebug.

We ARE the Wildlife layout with Joy's Life stamps

This week Joy asked us to create scrapbook pages this week, I was pretty excited. We just got back from a week long trip to Savannah. (Which is why my blog has been a little slow lately - I have SO much to share!)

I chose the 'We ARE the Wild Life' stamp from the Wild Life Puns set because I thought it fit this photo to a 'T'. The story behind this photo - which I guess I should probably add to this page in the form of some journaling - is that we were waiting to be seated at a VERY popular restaurant, the Crab Shack on Tybee Island in Georgia outside of Savannah. They had a sort of 'gator' theme since there was a pond of alligators that you could feed. I guess because there are always so many people standing around waiting, there were a bunch of places for photo ops. This giant alligator statue was one of them. We took a couple of normal photos, then my husband and brother-in-law thought it would be fun to 'feed' Ellie to the gator. She thought it was a good idea too, until she got up there. Then she started yelling at them to put her down, which they did, but not before I snapped this photo. It makes me laugh because here they are doing something that could be construed as a little stupid, with a kid who is in a cast and crying. I was thinking that all the people standing around were probably thinking - 'uh, no wonder that kid is in a cast!' LOL.

(By the way, the cast had nothing to do with stupidity on anyone's part except hers. She climbed up on something in gymnastics and when the teacher told her to get down, she jumped and landed badly in bare feet, breaking a tiny bone on the top of her foot - the night before our trip, which just happened to also be my birthday. Yeah, fun times.)

Anyway, so this photo makes me laugh, but rest assured no children are actually being harmed in this photo.

I used a combination of Jillibean soup (Neopolitan Bisque) and Hambly for this page. The teal paper and the orange circle transparency are Hambly, the other papers, stickers and die cuts are Jillibean soup. The wooden arrow is Pink Paislee. The postage frame is Maya Road. The tickets are from a Hydrangea Hippo kit. The Ink is clearsnap. and of course, the stamps are Joy's Life. Cardstock is Bazzill. Die is Sizzix.
On the title, I sprayed the paper with a little bit of glimmer mist to mute the pattern before stamping the title in Stephanie Barnard dye ink in Kettle. I also found the 'that bites' stamp on the Joy's Life Sweet Popsicle Puns set and thought that would be fun as a subtitle. I used Stephanie Barnard dye ink in cornflower on that.  I colored the heart in with a little bit of smooch in ocean.
